Low
cost sheet metal forming tooling with MCP-Alloys.
Sheet
Metal Tooling within two days any size, any geometry
To shorten the development period of a new automobile it is necessary
to optimise the methods of pattern and tool-making to cut the time
to a minimum. MCP 137, an extremly versatile alloy, offers the most
simple, quick and hence the most inexpensive system for solving the
tooling problems for small and prototype runs in the automotive industry.
To make a sheet metal forming tool with MCP 137 a single model made
of materials such as wood, plastic wood, resin, Styrofoam or an existing
sheet metal component can be used. No finishing work such as matching,
removing flash, polishing, or planing the back of the toolset is necessary.
Blankholders, guide pins, crane slots or insert can be cast into the
tool.
Application
experience with MCP 137 shows the following advantages of the alloy
to be the most significant:
- Low
material cost since the alloy is 100% re-usable
- Reduction
of production cost since no finishing is necessary
- No
shrinkage of the alloy - extremly exact
- Requires
only one pattern - no expensive shrink patterns
- Environmentally
safe to use - no health hazard with disposal
- Simple
to use due to low casting temperature
- Low
cost equipment
- Weeks
quicker than other tooling systems
MCP
137 can be used to produce 3 part tools, for example with integrated
blankholders and die-plates to reduce wear.
