New MCP Filler Toughens Vacuum Castings

Tough vacuum castings with physical properties close to those of polycarbonates and nylons can now be produced with a new resin filler from the MCP Group.

Suitable for addition to all MCP vacuum casting resins, GF1000 is glass-flaked medium formulated to enhance the dimensional stability and mechanical performance of as-cast components.

Thought to be the first of its type, GF1000 is added to the two-part casting resin in 10 or 15 percent proportions by weight according to the characteristics required. It raises the flexular modulus MPA by up to 75 percent and increases both the heat deflection temperature and the hardness.

As well as widening the scope for casting tougher components, GF1000 also enables the physical specifications of end-products to be evaluated comprehensively at the prototyping stage.
