Since 1950, Sidech has been an innovator in the chemical processing of bismuth-containing residues. The construction of four furnaces in the 1970's for Comibol at Telemayu in the Bolivian Altiplano firmly established Sidech's unique knowledge of the metallurgy of bismuth. In 1972, Comibol and Sidech, joined by other producers, founded the Bismuth Institute. This non-profit association of world producers offered continuous support for potential producers or users of bismuth. Sidech's expertise in chemical and metallurgical processes enables the treatment of lead-bismuth alloys from lead refineries as well as concentrates, bullion and all types of residues to extract bismuth in the most effective way. Today Sidech's refining capabilities have expanded to include not only Bismuth, but also Cobalt, Copper, Iron, Molybdenum, Nickel, Lead, and Rhenium, as well as various alloys of these elements. Prior to the merger with MCP, Sidech began production of Bismuth Oxide. This chemical production is ISO 9001 Certified.
Sidmet was established in 2004 to accommodate Sidech's growing business recycling various metal containing scraps and residues.
Upon the merger of Sidech and MCP in 2007 the Tilly site became the World Headquarters for the new MCP Group.

Mining and Chemical Products Limited (MCP UK) was formed in London in 1929 to take over the refining and marketing of Aramayo Bismuth in Europe. The manufacturing site in Wellingborough was established in the mid-1960's and further expanded in 1986. In 1998 the High-Purity Metal Refining Building was built to accommodate the growing use of Gallium and Indium in the electronics market. In 2001 the commercial offices were also consolidated into the site. MCP UK refines Bismuth, Indium, Gallium, Germanium, Selenium, and Tellurium in standard and custom forms. We also manufacture Low Melting Point Alloys (LMPA) and multiple pewter alloys (Lead bearing and Lead free) in ingots and various stamped forms. The High Purity Building houses Indium and Gallium refining for purities up to 99.99999% (7N), Indium and Gallium chemical production and the on-site lab. MCP UK also recycles/reprocesses scraps from our customers and other Group locations. MCP UK is ISO 9001 and 14001 Certified.

MCP HEK GmbH (HEK), based in Lubeck, Germany, is the world's largest dedicated Bismuth Chemical Plant. A qualified team of engineers and technicians is available to advise all our customers and answer any questions concerning the use of our products. HEK is a USA FDA inspected facility, as well as being ISO 9001:2008 and GMP certified.

In 1957, the chemist Hans Emil Klie, whose initials lent the company its name, sold HEK to the MCP Group. The MCP group thereby gained a foothold on the German market. HEK began producing bismuth salts in 1959. In the years following, the core business in the metallurgy and chemistry sectors was constantly expanded, including the construction of the new facility in 1989. Further expansion was completed in 2000 to increase capacity. On request, any of our products can be tailor-made to meet customer specifications.
HEK also produces a variety of Low Melting Point Alloys (LMPA) and handle the Group's commercial responsibilities for the German-speaking regions.

When required, HEK are able to dispatch standard products, which are stocked in Group companies across the globe, to anywhere in the world within 24 hours. The global positioning of HEK GmbH was further supported through the establishing of MCP HEK Chemicals Shangyu Ltd, China in 2006.

Metspec has since evolved into the group's main facility in North America, responsible for managing the business interests of the group in this region to include commercial activities, warehousing, distribution, recycling and light manufacturing.
