New Extrusion Press enhances range of MCP Wire Products Investment in a new state of the art Collin extrusion press means that MCP is now able to offer a significantly wider range of alloy and tin wire products including customers' special profiles and preforms. With a wire production capacity now standing at over 100 tonnes per year, a new range of lead free and low melting point alloy solders will now be available alongside existing extruded products such as lead free air gun pellets and tin wire used in the manufacture of fishing weights. Preform products extruded on the new press from a variety of MCP's low melting point alloys are supplied predominantly to satisfy an ever-increasing range of safety applications. Simple fusible plugs or pellets are now commonly used as melt-out safety devices in gas cylinders, heavy-duty diesel engines, domestic pressure cookers and even missile systems. Alloy discs have been supplied to the aerospace industry for fitting inside aircraft brakes to warn pilots of overheating. Other alloy preforms are incorporated in the safety devices of sprinkler systems, gas shut off valves, safety valves in oil and gas installations and safety cut outs in domestic night storage radiators. MCP's new extrusion press can produce round wire from 0.5mm diameter up to around 25mm depending upon the choice of alloy. A standard range of square, round and flat profiles are available and hexagonal, octagonal and triangular sections will be manufactured on request. Customers' own special profiles will also be considered. << top |
