Bending Consistency from MCP MCP manufactures a range of low melting point alloys, which will eliminate common problems associated with metal tube and section bending. Each of the company's alloys designed for workpiece support or as a filler when bending concentric tubes, produce more consistent results than alternatives such as epoxy resin, sand, shot and ice. Their low melting temperatures also eliminate any risk of heat damage to workpieces and surface finishes during filling or melting out. With melting points of between 70° C and 124° C, the support from these bismuth based formulations ensure a constant cross section is maintained without kinking, distortion or loss of concentricity when bending or shaping thick or thin walled tubes or sections up to 120mm square. After bending, these alloys can be melted out by using hot water or oil, depending on their melting temperature. All can be re-used continually for several years with the composition being corrected in house, if required. A lead and cadmium free alloy is included in the range. MCP also supplies a range of melting pots and tanks with volumes of up to 15 litres from stock. The company can also design bespoke equipment for non standard applications such as the high precision, low volume requirements for wave guides or for the large section, high volume bending of aluminium structural profiles.
