The range of MCP melting pots and tanks has been specially designed for melting, holding, dispensing and reclaiming low melting-point alloys at exactly the right temperature.

Design & Construction Features

All equipment is constructed with inner and outer steel casings, fully insulated by mineral wool. Lids are provided, which on the larger tanks are also insulated and fitted with counterbalances or hydraulic cylinders to facilitate safe opening and closing. The larger sizes also have outlet fittings suitable for the attachment of flexible hoses.

The standard series employs a thermocouple and controller and incorporates heated valve outlets and temperature-sensitive safety cut-outs. It is possible on certain models to switch individual heat zones on or off, either in the interests of economy or to accelerate melting.

Variants. Audio or visual alarms can be fitted to warn of temperature deviation and/or low alloy level. Inner casings of stainless steel are available if required.

Special Purpose Equipment

For tasks involving larger volumes of alloy, MCP provide a design and manufacturing service. There is no real limit on size. All are electrically heated, mainly from the bottom, and normally depend on a three-phase supply.

Construction of the actual containing vessel is normally of stainless steel, especially recommended where water is used as a melt-out medium at temperatures below 100°C, but mild steel may be substituted for use above 100°C, especially where an oil is used as a heat transfer medium or protective layer.

Safety & The Environment
Each unit bears the 'CE' mark, indicating conformity with the appropriate regulations on safety and electromagnetic compatibility. A manual is provided with each item, with guidance on setting-up, using and maintenance. Instructions are included which, if carefully followed, will make it possible to carry out those tasks of repair and replacement that can, in the manufacturers opinion, be accomplished safely by the users. The recommended alloys are not classified as dangerous, for either carriage or supply. They are easy to handle, and quite safe when the rules for normal handling are observed.
